Activities and Clubs Offered at Pennfield

 


Academic Competition

Teams of 5-7 students compete in a jeopardy format event with other middle schools. 7th and 8th grade students are invited to join and work as a team to test your knowledge!

 

Chess Club

Chess Club provides students the opportunity to learn the rules of chess, improve their game, and engage in friendly chess competitions with their peers.

B.A.S.I.C.

B.A.S.I.C. - Brothers and Sisters in Christ - A time to pray, learn, worship and serve!

Cross Country Team

The Cross Country Team is for students who are bit more competitive and are looking to participate in at least four races throughout the fall. There is a qualifying time in the mile run to join the Cross Country Team. We meet on Wednesday and Friday afternoons between September 12th and November 9th from 3:00 - 4:00.

Co-Ed Volleyball

Volleyball club will take place in the fall. This club is entirely for fun, even though we will have some matches against the other schools. Whether you are completely new to volleyball or a pro, come join us for volleyball club!

EnAct

Environmental Action Club. EnAct's mission is to engage students in positive actions towards addressing global and local environmental issues. We commit to using a broad range of skills and approaches to make the most of the power we have to work towards environmental security.

Knight Vision

The Indoor Color Guard, Knight Vision, is open to 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students from all three middle schools. Rehearsals are held several nights a week from October to April at Penndale Middle School. Knight Vision performs frequently at color guard competitions throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Most competitions are held on Saturdays from February to April. The competitive season ends with championships which are held in mid April.

Rainbow Alliance

The Rainbow Alliance provides education, support, and advocacy for LGBTQ individuals and allies while working to advance fairness and equality. The meetings take place the second and fourth Thursdays of the month and are divided into two parts. The first hour is focused on education and support for individuals, the second hour consists of social time where students may play games, listen to music or just hang out. The Rainbow Alliance, where all people are welcome!

Reading Olympics

A fun gathering for those who like to read.

Running Club

The Running Club is for students who enjoy running, are looking to get in shape, and would like to be part of an activity in the fall. We meet every Tuesday between September 18th and December 4th from 3:00 - 5:00.

Ski and Snowboard Club

Pennfield Ski and Snowboard takes a total of four trips to Bear Creek Resort in January and February on Friday evenings after school. We take a school bus to the mountain at 4:00 p.m. and return to Pennfield by 11:00 p.m. You must own or rent equipment and have proper gear for the weather elements. A lift pass must be purchased, and there is an $8.00 charge for the round trip bus ride per trip. Join us for some fun in the snow! 

Spring Musical Tech Crew

Are you interested in the technical aspects of theatre? Be involved with the lights, sound and special effects for this years musical. Spring Musical Tech Crew: Monitor sound levels and sound effects for the spring musical production. Mic actors and control lighting for the musical (stage lighting and spotlights).

Spring Musical Stage Crew

Stage Crew (backstage) is a group of students who work on creating props, set pieces, and run the spring musical by moving set pieces, pulling curtains and handling props. They may also be ushering the show if not needed backstage.

Ultimate Frisbee

The Ultimate Frisbee Club is for students who can throw a frisbee, enjoy the outdoors in the spring, are willing to do some running during games. The club meets on Tuesdays and Fridays between mid-May and the end of the school year from 3:00 - 4:30.

Yearbook

Be involved with designing your yearbook. Choose the cover, design the pages and show off your photography skills!

Jazz Band

Jazz Band is open to all 7th, 8th, and 9th grade instrumentalists by audition.

Chamber String Orchestra

Chamber String Orchestra is open to 7th, 8th, and 9th grade string players by audition.

Math Counts

The MathCounts Team is for students who enjoy solving problems and find math to be very easy. We meet every Thursday mid-September and mid-February from 3:00 - 5:00. See your math teacher for more information.

National Junior Honor Society

National Junior Honor Society is a service organization made up of 8th and 9th grade students who qualify to join based on their GPA from the previous school year. Invitations to apply are given out in October to qualifying students.

 PFTV

PFTV is the student television studio. The studio is responsible for the morning announcements. Additionally we are working on a monthly broadcast of PF Happenings. Teachers may also reserve the studio for commercials and skits and public speaking. We are an application only group. Interested students should speak with Mrs. Dillon in the library.

Spring Musical

Sing, act and dance your way to stardom on the Pennfield stage. Audition required.

Student Council

Student council gives students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body

Vocal Ensemble

Vocal Ensemble is a group of 35 singers in grades 7, 8, and 9 who are chosen by audition. This group is only open to those students involved in the Pennfield music program.

WEB

WEB stands for "Where Everybody Belongs." It is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes the incoming 7th grade students to Pennfield. The program is made up of select 9th grade students who work to help 7th graders feel comfortable throughout their first year here at Pennfield. If you are interested in this program, you will have a chance to apply in the Spring of your 8th grade year.

Wind Ensemble is open to all 7th, 8th, and 9th grade instrumentalists by audition.
