SECONDARY COURSE ADVANCEMENT
Course advancement provides NPSD students an opportunity to accelerate through certain course sequences. Eligible courses are Geometry, Introduction to Physical Science, and some World Language courses. By successfully completing the course advancement curriculum, students will be able to access additional options in the high school curriculum. This challenging and rigorous coursework is offered through the Montgomery Virtual Program (MVP), Montgomery County Intermediate Unit’s online learning platform.
To learn more about course advancement, a Course Advancement Information Meeting for students and their families will be held virtually on Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Students and parents must register by Wednesday, January 28, 2026 in order to attend this meeting. COURSE ADVANCEMENT FOR 2026-27 - IMPORTANT DATES
January 29, 2026:
Course Advancement Information Meeting for students & families @ 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
January 30 - March 20, 2026:
NPSD application for approval to course advance must be submitted.
April 13 - May 8, 2026:
MVP Course Advancement open enrollment period for students approved to course advance.
Mandatory Orientation Session:
Students registered with MVP for Course Advancement will receive more information about this.
May 22, 2026:
Course Advancement session begins.
July 17, 2026:
Last day to complete and submit Course Advancement work.
