PA State Screening Requirements:

  • Hearing and Scoliosis for 7th grade - The School Nurse is mandated to perform these screenings at school.
  • If you do not want your child to be screened by the school nurse for these mandated requirements, please email or call your Certified School Nurse to make aware.

Medications:

  • Any medication must be distributed through the nurse, including over-the-counter analgesics. If you need to send in a medication prescribed by a physician, please complete the medication form (link below under Forms). Parent must drop off to the school nurse in the original medication packaging.
  • Cough Drops: Per new school policy in 2018, the school nurse can not administer to students as this is not a listed medication/doctor order.
  • Epi Pen Shortage: Due to a production shortage of Epi Pens, the FDA has extended Epi Pen expiration dates. A full list can be found at this website: Epi Pen - New FDA Expiration Dates

Important Reminders and Tips:

  • Registration Information: Please refer to North Penn School District helpful health information form HERE for registration requirement information for all kindergarten and new students (any grade)
  • Breakfast: Please make sure your child eats breakfast every day. We see many students who tell us that they have stomach aches/ head aches and we find the reason is due to not having eaten any breakfast. Children need breakfast to learn and to remain healthy. Studies have shown that children learn better when they have breakfast, so, please do not neglect this important meal!
  • Prevent the spread of cold and flu virus: Cold and flu season is upon us. To help prevent the spread of cold and flu viruses, please follow these guidelines and remind your child to do so, as well:
    • Wash your hands frequently: after using tissues, the bathroom, and before eating
    • Cover coughs and sneezes with the inside of your elbow, NOT your hand
    • Frequently wash high contact surfaces such as doorknobs, counters, faucets, and toilet handles
    • Discard toothbrush and toothpaste after someone is sick OR sanitize toothbrush in dishwasher
    • Wash pillowcases, sheets, and towels immediately following an illness
